I've been listening to a fabulous recording of Maria Callas singing Violetta in La Traviata. I think it would be very hard to beat this performance but if you have recordings you like I'd love to know about them as La Traviata is one of my favourite operas.

I must say that I've been raving about this recording to my family and friends. My father is also interested in music and I was most amused when speaking to my mother on the phone this evening to learn that Dad had been listening to another recording by Callas of Traviata from the same year, the one from Lisbon. I gather they were enjoying it!
