Renowned Shakespearean actor and director, Kenneth Branagh, stars as Detective Kurt Wallander in a series of shows on PBS Masterpiece: Mystery! during the month of May.

The series is based on the novels by Henning Mankell and are set in the beautiful Swedish countryside.

The first story, Sidetracked, appears this Sunday, May 10 at 9 pm EDT in the U.S. The second episode, Firewall, appears May 17th, and the third, One Step Behind, is scheduled for May 31st. Each episode runs 90 minutes.

Henning Mankell has announced the final novel in the series will be published in Sweden in August 2009.

I watched Wallander Sunday night - Wow! I thought the show was fantastic; very edgy. The scenery was spectactular.

Did anyone else see the first offering on PBS Mystery!? What did you think?

Another excellent episode of Wallander last night. Note to self - be sure to get the DVD's in June!

The third and last installment on PBS will be Sunday, May 31st.

I am especially enjoying Wallander's daughter who is living with him. She set Wallander up on a dating website with very unexpected results.

The third Wallander movie, One Step Behind, was on PBS last night. Although it seemed darker than the first two, the plot was fascinating with very unexpected twists and turns. I actually ended up in tears by the end of the show.

I really wish there were more Wallander movies in the pipeline. Haven't seen that there are.

I am now a Kenneth Branagh fan. What an actor!
