She sounds as though she had a great deal of encouragement of her creativity both at home and at school.

Did you?

We didn't. And it was worse for the boys than for the girls - we could be a bit 'soft' but they had to be manly and make a straightforward bird table in carpentry - heaven forbid they tried to jazz it up a bit with a curly bit of carving or any other kind of embellishment. They had to be purely practical. So did we in our domestic science classes. Ooh. (shivers to think of it)
