After a three year battle with cancer, British SF author J.G. Ballard passed away Sunday April 19 in England. He is survived by his long-time partner Claire Walsh, his son Jimmy and daughters Fay and Beatrice.
I recommend his fictionalized autobiography EMPIRE OF THE SUN, the novels HIGH-RISE, CRASH and HELLO AMERICA, and his short story collection VERMILION SANDS as some of my favorites.
