I planted these morning glory seeds in a tray with a plastic cover on April 8, 2009. The seeds had all been nicked (by my boyfriend Bob) and then soaked overnight in water. This is what the morning glories looked like on April 10th, 2 days later!

And then two days after that on April 12th, they were already taller than the plastic cover for the little "greenhouse"!

Wow, they are growing fast! I love morning glories. I usually plant seeds around my lamp post and they bloom all summer. Where are you going to plant yours, Lisa?

We have a back porch with a glass table on it, so I like to plant them around the edge of the porch so they grow up the slats of the railing. I'll also plant a few by the mailbox. We'll see!

Don't morning glories grow wild in a yard?

There are morning glories with big beautiful blue flowers that you plant from seed, and then there is bindweed. Bindweed grows wild and has a flower like a small morning glory and if it comes up in your yard look out! It is hugely invasive and will choke out everything it can get its miserable tendrils on and it will regrow from the smallest root left behind when you pull it up. A friend of mine has been fighting the Bindweed War for several years now and I live in fear of seeing it pop up in my yard.

Oh, that's the difference. I only remember hearing about the weed.

I have a ton of trouble growing morning glories so I don't think this one is a weed smile

Here they are on April 18th!

Now I'm going to have to repot all of these already because they're growing so quickly. I don't have enough pots - I'm going to have to go shopping ... it's still a month before I can put them safely into the ground.

Today I planted my morning glories (blue and mixed) and moonflowers into planting trays so they'll be ready in the summer. Have you done any morning glory planting yet?
