Thanks so much! This explains a lot.

I can look at a pattern and think I can do it and then get hung up in little details. I also usually find I need to go buy another size of needles for my collection or something.

One question: If I want to make a pattern larger or smaller can I increase or decrease the needle size or is it better to find a specific pattern for a specific needle size?

Either way actually works, it depends on how much bigger you need to make it and if you like the resulting fabric. Check out this article for Knitting a Swatch it hopefully makes sense about what will happen when you change needle size.

This article is about Reading a Pattern and will help through some of the common issues.

And finally, this article discusses Adjusting a Pattern

I hope all this helps, if it doesn't, just come on back!

Thanks so much! I should have checked your article listing as you have lots of great info there. I included these links in a new blog I've started about my fiber arts adventures, called Spinning Alpaca Yarns

Not many posts there yet but it's one blog I'm kind of doing for fun, not profit-lol. Hopefully, I'll get lots of readers and they can come to Bella as well to get advice from all of you friendly knitters.

It makes it "doable" when everyone does a little bit doesn't it? My local knitting guild makes hats for chemo patients, premies, babies, Afghans for Afghans etc. everyone chooses their area and contributes what they can.
