Hi Michelle!
I've applied several times to be an editor for BellaOnline. I've never even received a 'form' rejection. No rejection at all. I applied again a few days ago -- will I ever get a notice saying I got the site? Or not?

If Michele doesn't answer you quickly on this, I'll do some checking on it later next week. Sorry I can't do anything about this sooner, but I'm on my way out of town for a few days and leaving within the hour--as soon as I can get my suitcase closed.

I am wondering if you are trying for one of the open slots available? Sometimes Bella can't open up new areas for awhile.

I'm sorry that none of us have gotten with you earlier but thank you for letting us know.

If you do not get accepted for a site, you did get a "rejection" letter. My cousin applied for a site and the letter ended up in the spam of her email. If you don't receive it even in the spam, you either entered the wrong email address at the time of the application or something went amiss on our side.

Hi Jeanette!
Thanks for answering me. I always applied for subject sites that were open -- and always check my spam box because I have other business things happening.
I applied through your form so it had to have gone to the right email address every time.
Hope I get a site. I love this place!

I am SO sorry - I don't know how I kept missing this question!

Let me check into your application and see what is up.

Although I did have a discussion with the other managers the other day asking if we sent out a "no" letter to those that did not get sites, and I was told that we do - so I am not sure why you are not receiving notification one way or the other.

I do know that we have been down a couple of managers here lately - (one is getting married - yay!) so things might be taking a bit longer than usual.

HI Sherly,
I, too, am sorry that you are having a difficult time getting your question answered. I've been an editor at Bella Online for about 4 months now and they've always been very responsive, but with such a large site and so many editors I understand it gets really busy. One thought though with the forums we have to rely on the fact that someone actually catches our post. Sometimes you may want to send a PM directly to the person you need the answer from so they get that little flashing envelope icon when they sign in to the forums.
Just a thought, best wishes to you!

I'm the person who approves new editors and also (here's the bad part of my duties) rejects others. I absolutely always send a rejection email.

I have to either send that email or deliberately choose not to--i.e., it's automated and one or the other has to happen to move the application from the active list to the "inactive" list. I sometimes get dozens of applications a week, so leaving them active is not an option--I'd be overwhelmed by the list and nobody would ever get approved. Plus, once I select an editor for a site, if there were other applications, I might accidently select another one--how awful would that be?? With over 400 sites on here, it's impossible to remember which ones are available at any given time.

The system does automatically go to the email you enter on the application. So, if you make a typo, it goes to email purgatory, I suppose. Other than that, I can only say check to make sure your email is not full , make sure "training at bellaonline" is in your whitelist and then, if you get spam notifications, check those to make sure your letter is not in there.

Occasionally, I approve someone and never hear back from them--they never sign the contract, never logon or anything--so I assume those applicants never got the email either. I know sometimes people use email addresses they don't check often--a free account they use for signing up for stuff--and they don't check those for awhile, and never check those spam filters, so really, it's hard to say in any one instance what happened, but the possibilities are several.

So, it's very important to double-check your email in the application. And, to complete the application fully--a common mistake, too. All the info there is used to evaluate one's abilities and readiness to write weekly articles for a site.

As someone else said, keep applying. Often, I have three or four applications for one site and they are all good. It's agonizing to choose just one, but I have to--it may not mean anyone's application "sucked", just that someone else was a bit better, or in a couple of cases, it actually came down to who applied first.

Thanks for explaining the process. I am in at the present for the CHOCOLATE site but will keep plugging!
Many thanks!
