In my new article: click here to read it

it says:

"Some early humans did start to paint the walls of their dwellings, but I dont think they were deliberately being creative they were just doing what comes naturally. They were recording their lives, telling picture stories about the things they did to survive, obeying a natural impulse to visualise their thoughts."

Do you regard your creativity as a self-indulgence? Do you feel you don't have any? Do you feel you don't have the right to have any, or to use it? Do you feel it's an essential part of you? How do you feel about your creativity?

I find that if I go too long without consciously using my creativity - that is that I think I use my creativity unconsciously most of the time, too - but if it's too long without consciously using it - I start to feel uncomfortable, as if something's missing - and then downright ratty!

If I then deliberately do something creative I get a sudden uprush of good feeling.

Hi Susan,

What an interesting article.
I have found that we are always evovling and coming of our own and yes many, myself included have difficulty in celebrating our own creativiity. We are our toughest critics. I find myself often writting in the third person to express myself because of this reason. As we season (age) I believe we become more comfortable in our own skins. I know I have. But to me the most important thing is the creative process or the ride so to speak. That is where my greatest joy is.

Thanks, Danielle.

What fabulous jewellery you have! I spent too long roaming your gallery...

It's good to hear that you've become comfortable in your own creativity.

We all need to achieve this to be 'comfortable in our own skins' - just as you say.

What kind of ways do you express your creativity in, Braden?

Hi Susan,

I am thinking of taking classes in metalsmithing and applying new techniques to my designs. I believe we shouldn't become complacent in our creativity as well. We should continue to grow as to rest is to rust.

Thank you for visiting my site. It does take a bit of time to see everything. I call it my little museum as I remember each piece of sea glass and where it came from.

Make sure you have a cup of coffee next time you visit.

Ooh, Danielle - I certainly shall indulge in a coffee next time!

I agree ref complacency. But not only that - there are so many techniques, so many materials, so many ideas - one lifetime isn't enough to try them all out, so there's no time to rust at all!

"To rest is to rust" - heh - I like that.
