I would love to hear some of your original limericks!

There once was a poetry forum
where I posted a limerick poem
It was so very silly
it meant nothing really
but I hope it inspired more'm

A reader sent these to me-

There was an old girl called Eileen
who wanted to dress like the Queen.
Oxfam never sold things in ermine and gold
but their second-hand clothes are quite clean.

There was a young lady from Ely
who was ever so nice, she was really.
She fell for young Mike
on his new motor bike
and each day now, her heart does a 'wheely'

I wrote limericks for our homemade Valentine's Day cards for my nephews. I got rather silly with them by purposely not rhyming the last line:

There once was a boy name Tyler,
Who had a Valentines balloon made of mylar.
He went into the sky
and shouted, Good-bye!
To his cousins who were too cheap to buy him
a gift card from Target, his favorite store.

And...

There once was an uncle named Mal
who was so nice, he was everyones pal.
He liked concerts and cars
But not smoking cigars
And he was so good at grilling,
he always got stuck cooking for the entire family
and we wondered if he ever got sick of it.

There once was a boy name Brandon,
Who pulled a muscle or was it a tendon?
He was still pretty bony
and thought it was baloney
that his cousins were so cheap they gave him
a recycled $15 gift card from ITunes.

Once there was a boy named Ryan,
who was Japanese but also Hawaiian
He liked beer and cards,
and had really big nards.
We actually have no way of knowing that
but it rhymed so we could be lyin.

They thought the cards were funny. There were more but you get the picture! Sorry if the nards thing offends.

The thing about Limericks-- they have a tendancy to be a bit off color- its the nature of the beast--

Silly samples Lori!!! I bet your nephews got a kick out of them smile

Ok, I hope I didn't offend anyone with those silly limericks above. They didn't rhyme and they used tacky words. Sorry. Here's my second attempt:

Try your hand at some limerick fun.
It's not hard to write a small one.
It may not be funny
But it doesn't cost money
So no one will want a refund.

Well now, that didn't rhyme well either. Ok, what 'bout this one?

It's St. Paddy's Day, doncha know?
So let your fun limericks flow!
They do need to rhyme
Pretty much every time
So raise a glass and give it a go!

Happy St. Patrick's Day to all!!!

There was an old man from Killarney,
Who thought he was really quite funny.
To the lassies he would smile and tip his hat,
To the gents he would only toss fat.

well...it rhymes.

Happy St. Paddy's Day!
May all good blessings come your way!

Uh, Phyllis...your limerick is missing the last line! The final line of a limerick needs to rhyme with the first and second lines!

Gee, what do you call the lines again? There is a term for them, isn't there? Arms? Yikes. My memory is getting worse! Age happens.

Oh! sorry...how about:

There was an old man from Killarney,
Who thought he was really quite funny.
To the lassies he would smile and tip his hat,
To the gents he would only chew the fat.
He really was full of blarney.

LOL those are quite funny!

There once was a guy from New York
who would drink anything with a cork
His girl wanted ham,
but he made her lamb
He wouldn't give in on the pork!

Thus went our Easter Dinner smile

Along came the easter bunny
bringing candy with sugar and honey
he hopped over a log
but did not see the frog
the result was really quite funny!
