I can eat my lunch, like today...cheeseburger with mayo (no bun), 1/4 avacado, and sliced dill pickle and walk away feeling like I haven't eaten at all.

I know what you mean. I really crave carbs.

How long have you been on low carb? I hear that once your body purges itself, the cravings go away. That happened to me once but then I lost my appetite and forgot to eat one day. When I finally realized I was hungry, I was famished and went overboard on the carbs again.

Your body is used to the quick sugars carbs provide. Because of the protein, it takes longer for the body to register the sugars and you might not feel as full as you typically did with all the carbs. I am on a low carb, not no carb diet myself.

WalkingGranny - sugar addiction is a real thing. Your body definitely gets addicted to those sugars, and it takes a while to break that addiction. Give your body time to adjust to the new, "natural" sugar-free lifestyle and soon the cravings will go away! I eat far less now than I did before when I had those sugar rushes.

That being said, I'm not sure just a cheeseburger and avocado part are enough for a meal. Are you eating healthy snacks in between too? You should be eating every 2-3 hours, to keep your blood sugars steady.

Realize my day starts at 3 am...so my day stated with...a small peice of left over short ribs and coffee at at 4am on the way to work. At 9 when I got home I had an omlet...1 egg and 1 oz cheese, lunch was cheeseburger and 1/4 avacado, dinner was large scoop of chicken salad on a bed of field greens...the other 1/4 of the avacado and peas(9 carbs worth) and 3 pork rinds. I drink coffee in the am, water and diet soda the rest of the day except breakfast..then I have Crystal Lite Sunrise orange.

Your thread, WalkingGranny, inspired me to stay low carb today. I nearly cooked up some packaged asian noodles but chose to eat some tofu instead. Thanks! smile

Granny - it still sounds to me like you're not eating enough. If you have just a tiny amount of food and coffee at 3 and then don't eat again until 9 - that's six hours without any food! That's not good for you. Your body will get really hungry in the meantime! Can you bring along carrot sticks or something to snack on?

I'm going to add nuts this week. I bought some almonds that I can carry...and some natural peanut butter from the nut shop...no additives just peanuts and lightly salted that I can put in celery. They're pretty easy to carry. Usually, I just have coffee until I get home...yesterday I thought I'd try eating some protein..didn't see any change in the way I felt. I think since I'm up at 3 and don't go to bed until 8 or 9 I've got to plan to eat at least 4 meals. I'm going to work on that next..getting things evened out during my day. I still feel 10 years younger. When I get out of my bus seat I can walk. Just a couple weeks ago my legs didn't want to move and I ached horribly. That much is an improvement, now to see how I can alter things so I can lose some weight.

Granny - I think you need more vegetables. They are filling and nutritious. Also, something to consider. I find that when I drink lots of coffee I get really really hungry. I think its the caffeine. I have also discovered through lots of trial and error that artificial sweeteners make me hungrier than sugar. When I drink diet coke it makes me ravenous within an hour. Each of us is different so it just takes patience and experimentation to figure out what works and what doesn't.
