Looking at old diaries from when I was in school I'd usually do well for January and February and lose interest. I was very happy this time around that I'd been writing since December and not missed a day. Then last night I was exhausted when I went to bed, and didn't want to wake Bob up, so I went to bed without writing. I actually missed it a lot! I think that's a good sign. I really have come to enjoy my journal time at night to look back over the day.

Do you guys find you miss it on days you cannot journal?

I have two autistic sons, 3 and 11, and a 13 year old daughter, and I'm a sole parent, so some days I can't journal because I'm just too tired. I miss it heaps, I can feel it building within me when I don't write, and then when I can it all comes flooding out in one big gush, and I take a big breathe of relief!!

I miss a lot of days and then some days I just write one line - just to say it was a nice or a hard day. Journaling should not be a chore but something you want to do.

Angie - I agree with you *completely* that journaling should never be a chore. You should write because you want to write.

I was really amazed that I *did* want to write every day, and was feeling it was very useful to me!

On the days you do not write, you don't miss it? So to you journaling is a take-it-or-leave-it sort of thing?

Yarnplay - that's how I feel! That it's a great feeling to write down things and if I don't write them down they start backing up inside of me.

I can't even imagine raising three children on my own, never mind children with special needs! You are to be commended for shouldering that.

I just went on an overnight trip where I had to stay at a hotel - and I brought my journal along to write in it! I was glad I did too, I looked forwards to my time with my journal!

When I travel I journal daily and make notes about the trip.

I attended the writer's work shop today. Although the author did not talk about journals in particular she did discuss writing every day. She suggested for a week, writing 5 minutes each day. The following week, 10 minutes. She said shortly we would be chomping at the bit to write a lot.

I definitely enjoy journaling whenever I travel! I try to write a travelogue for each trip I take. I enjoy sharing the trip with others, to help them learn what a place is like.

That is a great division of labor Angie! My boyfriend isn't a writer, but he is a photographer so he takes tons of photos for me. So that does help!
