Just thought I'd pop by to say that my son has just bowled his first tournament last weekend and he did fantastic.
We thought it may be a weekend full of nerves but he was calm all the way through, he admitted he was a little nervous the week before the tournament but when we left home to drive there he said the nerves vanished. He thoroughly enjoyed the whole atmosphere of it all, and did us and the club proud.
Didn't get the final results due to the way they scheduled the last day but hopefully will get them this Sunday from the coach. However as we stated first tournament don't worry about the scores just go and enjoy the whole thing, get the experience under your belt.
Now to plan for the next one which is in April and both sons are bowling in that one...

Hi Mikie: Fantastic!!! I remember my three grandchildren's first tournaments and it mirrors your family's experience. We tend to forget how resilient our children are. Oftentimes we are more nervous than they are; and, sometimes, we're the one's who make them get anxious. Just let them enjoy themselves in competition and they will have fun and do well. We are anxious to hear how it turns out. Keep us posted, please.

BTW, do they bowl for scholarship prizes?

Best regards,

No Scholarship prizes.

He did well, there was no pressure put on him to win I stressed it was his first tournament and he should go and enjoy it no matter how well he did or did not do.

He came 4th of 12 in the Doubles for his age group.
Singles he came 22nd of 23 (but those were his worst games of the whole weekend)
4 person teams his team was 31st of 34 (But not worried as he was the strongest bowler in the team by far)
Overall for his age group he came 19th out of 24.

Not bad considering he's only been bowling for a year and is at the lower end of his age group.

I think he did really well and he has said he is looking forward to the next tournament..
