My wife and I bought a strawberry pot with the soil and plants all together as a kit. The plants are Ozark Beauty strawberries. The problem is, we can't get an answer to WHEN to plant them. The instructions in the kit and on hundreds of websites tell HOW, but not WHEN. It's deep winter here. The weather won't warm up for a month. Can we plant them in the pot now and get them started indoors? Do they need to be in sunlight? If so, should the pot be rotated so all the plants get a share of the light? It would be a shame to lose the plants due to ignorance! don

Have you put the soil in the pot per the directions? How big is the jar? I remember my mother had a strawberry jar and she loved it. If you can keep the plants healthy until the weather warms up a bit (I don't know what zone you are in and when planting is recommended), then put the plants into the jar, you should be OK.

I found a site with information about planting strawberries in a jar. strawberry jar instructions

I have a jar and being I want to put so much stuff on my deck, this would be perfect.

I went to home depot on Saturday and asked about strawberry jars. The guy sent me to what he had - a teeny jar with herbs in it. It must be too early in my neck of the woods for the jars to be out. It will probably be a month before the strawberry plants appear in the garden centers.

If I can get to our local nursery, I will ask about the jars. It seems to me that there is supposed to be a tube down the center for drainage but I cannot recall where I saw that information and cannot find any literature.
