How much fiber did you eat today?

I have an article on how important Fiber is in your daily diet - in NATURAL form from food, not just from pills.

Fiber and Nutrition

I just read a book which emphasizes that women should eat 25-35g a DAY of fiber.

Look at your daily menu for today. How much fiber did you get? If you're not sure, we can help out!

I get 8 grams a day from chewable tablets - I know, not the best source, but it's my safety net. I then get 2g from my morning EAS shake. So my daily minimum is 10g of fiber.

I try to have a salad each day, so that adds some.

I just had a grilled cheese sandwich for lunch, so with my 7 grain bread that's 8g for the 2 slices. So I'm up to 18. No salad yet today smile

I just bought some fiber tablets today... I know shame on me. I'm going out tonight and buying some of the pre-mixed salad greens and chicken breasts so that I can bring those for lunch.

I started eating wheat bread. Last time I tried it years ago, it tasted like cardboard, but recently it hasn't been so bad.

I'm off to checkout your article...I know backwards...it should be read THEN post. smile

Yup the high fiber food list is here -

High Fiber Food List

Try to incorporate those into your daily menu!

Wheat bread is VERY good for you - far better health-wise than white bread. It's a very good idea to wean yourself onto wheat and multi-grain bread if you typically eat white bread!

I did have a salad for dinner yesterday so that helped. Today after my pills and shake I've had some whole wheat pita bread with hummis, and in a short while I'll be thinking about a real lunch ... I start my day late smile

I never buy white bread unless family is coming for dinner or to stay for a weekend. It makes me crazy that my grandkids are being raised on white bread - among other things that I don't approve of. smile

I'm not sure why families raise kids on white bread. I know I was raised on white bread and it took me many years to break that habit when I got to be an adult. Is it cheaper?

I was raised on white bread because it was cheap.. then when I went to live with my parents, my mom rarely bought white but instead bought wheat, rye, sourdough, etc. She did buy a loaf of white though for the kids that came to the house and weren't raised eating other breads that were healthier and in my opinion, tasted better.

I can't find anywhere on the web that lists prices of bread!! The next time I go to the supermarket I'm going to write down Wonder bread white and wheat to see what they cost. Does anybody know what they cost in their area?
