March 1-8 is National Sleep Awareness Week (NSAW)!!!

NSAW is a public education, information, and awareness campaign that coincides with the return of Daylight Saving Time, the annual "springing forward" of clocks that can cause Americans to lose an hour of sleep.

Join our NSAW countdown by taking sleep-related quizzes. Visit the National Sleep Foundation to learn more.

Sleep is SO important for health! I was just talking with a group of people about how they could not lose weight at all until they started getting ample sleep. Once they did, they lost weight easily. We are all told about how critical sleep is, and yet we try to skimp on it. We really should all pay much more attention to getting quality sleep.

I agree. I made a commitment to go to sleep no later than 10 pm for at the very least this week. But when I got finished working this afternoon, I took a nap and blew it. LOL. I won't get tired now until midnight. I'll try again tomorrow.

Thanks Leah! I'm currently trying to adhere to all those great basic things that we neglect in order to get that great nights' sleep! Thanks for the tips!

One important thing about getting enough sleep is to try and stick to a schedule. I have always made it a rule to get in bed by 10 pm, even with kids. The housework and whatever can wait.

I can't function without a good night's sleep and I know sleep helps keep us from being stressed out.

If I do have a night where I just can't fall asleep, I get out of bed and read for a while to get my mind cleared of whatever clutter is keeping me awake.

You're welcome Mary

Healthymom, I hear you on that in terms of setting a schedule and sticking to it. It's close to 7 pm right now and the children are ready for 9 pm bedtime. We didn't leisurely go through homework, dinner, baths etc like we usually do. I was on a mission so **I** can get to bed early too.

Yes a schedule is SO important! Your body gets used to the cycle and comes to expect it. It can really affect your health and how well your body can fight off infection. It's important for everything you do.

My schedule goes completely haywire sometimes when I'm up late working on the servers. Two night ago I went to bed at 8am. Last night I went to bed at 6am. I'm trying to work my way backwards to a more normal time smile Maybe I'll go to bed at 4am tonight ...

Wow...do you get caught up and forget the time? That happened to me today. I was looking through press releases and the next thing I knew, two hours went by. LOL.

Oh definitely Leah!! I have to set timers sometimes to remind me that I have something else that has to get done. I have my low carb site pre-written through June now because I got on a roll writing articles on a certain topic. One less thing to worry about!
