Cleansing
It is necessary to cleanse the skin every morning and evening, to rid it from dirt and makeup cosmetics. Wash your skin thoroughly on a daily basis to remove the dirt, debris, pollutants, and perspiration that have accumulated. If you have dry or sensitive skin, use only warm water to wash your skin and use a mild natural cleanser daily. If you have normal or oily skin, be sure to wash with a gentle cleanser on a daily basis. Be sure to brush your teeth before washing your face, as toothpaste residue can irritate sensitive facial skin.

Start washing from the eye area. Two different cotton pads must be used to purify the eyes. The hypoallergenic cleanser is applied to the cotton pad and then gently applied to the eye area. In a short period of time, makeup will dissolve. Gently remove the makeup by wiping outwards of the eye, taking special care not to pull or stretch the under eye area. Choose a hypoallergenic product to cleanse the eyes. Hypoallergenic cleanser is best for people with sensitive skin and for those who wear contact lenses.

Do not use hand soaps - they dry-out the skin, destroying the protective layer and minimizing the skins natural moisturizers.

It is essential to apply any beauty products to the face by the, massage face lines paying careful attention to the proper application techniques, in order to prevent unnecessary stretching of the skin.

Toning
Hydration gives skin elasticity, flexibility and freshness - toner is the final stage of purification. An essential component of tonic lotions and toner should be enriched in Vitamins C and E: they protect the skin against free radicals. When choosing a toner, let your skin type be your guide.

For dry skin do not use lotions containing alcohol. Buy toner with herbal extracts, which narrows the pores. Wiping a face with toner must also be done by using the "massage face lines".

Moisturizing
Without moisture, the skin will not remain smooth and supple. The face is exposed to the drying effect of the weather, so moisturizers - which form a film over the skin - contain and augment the natural moisture. Using the tips of the fingers, dot moisturizing cream lightly all over the face, then continue to apply the moisturizer to the rest of the face and neck, using the "massage face lines".

Unless your skin is very oily, you will want to use a moisturizer cream everyday to keep your skin hydrated and healthy. Your skin needs moisturizer all year long as both the indoor winter heat, and summer sun can be equally damaging to your skin.

Protect
Use a natural sunscreen when possible, regardless of whether or not you plan on spending much time in the sun. The sun's rays are very damaging and if you get in the habit of applying sunscreen everyday, you will never be left without protection. The suns most beneficial rays occur at sunrise and sunset.

It is very important to wash and moisturise your skin (face and body) every day - it's just good basic care. It doesn't have to be expensive! You can be as cheap as you like, as long as you choose products that suit your skin type.

There is a lot of information in this post, and some of it's true (ie - treat the skin with gentle care not to pull, do not use a toner with alcohol in it, wear sunscreen), and some of it is fabrication: herbs do *not* narrow the pores; the sun does not have beneficial rays at sunrise and sunset.

Some of it I don't understand at all - massage face lines?

Overall, this is kind of an odd posting.

Hi Sophie! I'd say you don't have to put in a full evening routine if you don't feel like your face is dirty. Some people just rinse off their face with water at night and call it done. Obviously if you are wearing makeup you'll want to use a cleanser to get that off, but otherwise a simple water rinse should be enough for you.

You could put on a little moisturizer if you wanted, but that is also optional if you have normal to oily skin. For dry to very dry skin it's simply more comfortable to wear a moisturizer to bed.

Witch Hazel is a very good astrigent/toner. Put some on a cotton ball and apply to face. It is very mild and you can buy it at any drug store. It also gives the face a cool feeling. I often use it often during the day to keep my face feeling fresh, especially during the summer. It has a weird odor that might not be appealing to some but it is all natural.
