The latest article posted is about Nicaragua. Is anyone on here from Nicaragua, or has anyone traveled there? What do you think are the best places to visit?

I spoke to a good friend who was born in Nicaragua and has not been back in 9 years today. When I asked him what her remembered most about living in Nicaragus he told be "being Hungry." This was the rest of his reply:

"We lived en campa [n a ranch or farm]. We had more money than a lot of people but we always were close to fighting. People would come in the house and take the food and the animals. It did not matter if you were contra or no [Sandinista] because one day it was one and the other day another. I was a child. I did not understand. I was just hungry."

It made me very humble and very glad for what I had growing up.

I would love to hear some happier memories!! It seems like such a beautiful country.

I had a friend who moved here from Nicaragua. This was when we were in the 5th grade. i got to help her with her English 30 minutes every day because I was in the gifted program, and could be spared from the class.

She was so beautiful! She had these gorgeous black, huge eyes and long, wavy black hair. I know most people think of war when they hear "Nicaragua" - but I always picture this beautiful and exotic young woman who was my first "international" friend!
