I'm currently working on self-hosting a wordpress blog and didn't realize there are so many themes out there to choose from. Any suggestions on what features to look for?

I'm going to use it for business and I know some themes are more seo friendly than others.

How to choose?

Some you can add a customized banner to and some you can not (fixed).

Some have page tabs. Some have a top navigation bar above the banner.

Some have a search box -- but you can add one.

What do you think would be the easiest for your customers to use to get to your information?

I also look for color schemes, the look of the font and text embellishments, how much customization is possible, and how big the actual "writing" space is.

I went through a lot of trials and tribulations tho! A friend helped me with the HTML to change the header and customize it a bit. I'm not used to working in the confines of a theme. When I did my website, I designed it, for good or bad, all myself. But I could manipulate everything about the look of it.

It took me some time but I'm wading through it.

a favorite blog of mine on wordprss is 20 east (all about Warsaw) Or Polandian. I was going to suggest that you check out others on wordpress to get a feel of the different blogs and how they are set up and what you like and don't like about each.
