Anyone who has an e-commerce store today knows the value of PageRank. Does anyone know how to improve the PageRank of a web site?

Thank you

Links to your webpage from articles are one of the best ways to improve your page rank. These are one way links and have more value then back links.

You can get incoming links to your site by doing squidoo pages, ezine articles, yahoo answers and Google's new page called Knol.

You can also sign up your website with directories.

I've used Knol to get incoming links to my sites. To me they are easier than squidoo pages. You just write an article and like words to your website articles. I do one link per paragraph. There is no limit with Knol, unlike ezine articles, which only allows 3 links per article.

Yes, I must say I mainly use Squidoo for getting links-not for getting traffic by itself - my webhosting gets me found 100 times more than Squidoo by Google. I know people say Google doesn't 'like' those lenses and I'm beginning to think theyre right - I would rather put a page up on my own site where google finds it all by itself!

Haven't tried Knol yet,it's on my list! But I do think Squidoo is very time-intensive to promote for traffic!

BellaShorts, I agree about Squidoo being time-consuming. I always thought that time could be better spent adding pages to my website.

I know the se's love new content so you have to keep adding new pages to your site. I've read that one reason the se's love blogs is the constant new content.

On one site I have I let it set for about a year and hardly ever added a new page. It lost it's ranking due to that so one of my upcoming projects is to add about 50 new pages to it over a couple months.

I've checked my stats almost daily over the past 3 years to blogs and websites and I get many more hits from posts here on BellaOnline than than I do from ezine articles. However, the se's will rank your site higher if a larger majority of traffic comes from search engines than from direct traffic or referring sites like social networks.

If you have well seo'd articles the se's will fine you.

Content is king. Start a blog and post, if possible, everyday. Comment on other relevant blogs.

On my eldercarecafe.net site, I made a determined effort in March to post every day that month. Then during April and May I went through some kind of funk for various reasons.

I posted 8 times in April and 13 in May before getting back on track in June. My page rank plummeted per the early June stats. The early July stats show the site on a strong upswing once again.

Yes, content is king and SEO is extremely important, also.

I agree - you always have to keep posting and promoting your site. Once you get your numbers up, your page rank increases as well-if slowly.
