I am in desperate need for help: My pattern calls for slipping the last stitch of each row...when knitting the next row , "insert needle in first stitch then take yarn across the front of the stitch to the back and knit". I am knitting a baby blanket and this is suppose to give a nice hedge. I just found BellaOnline and I am amazed. I am sure to be at this site every day. Thanks for anyones help.

Welcome and I'm glad you found us.

Regarding your pattern, I have just picked up my knitting and tried to do what your instructions asked and can't seem to make it work. What I normally do to get a nice clean edge is to slip the last stitch of the row, and then either knit or purl the first stitch (depends on the pattern) this keeps the edge stitch from being too loose.

Can you tell me what pattern you are looking at, specifically, I'll see if I can find it and take a closer look at the picture or pattern myself.

I too will look at the pattern if you can tell me what it is. If you just slip the last stitch and then on the next row, knit or purl it it should look fine. I think if you try to wrap the yarn on the slip, they are looking for a fancy angled edge. Never make yourself unhappy when you try something, knitting should be fun.
