What are your plans for celebrating Black History Month?
There are quite a few venues in various cities that are offering discounts. You just have to view your cities Arts&Culture directories.
For instance, in NYC there is a National Black Fine Arts Show, February 13-15th @ 7 West 34th St. at 5th Ave. NYC If you're in the area, check it out. It would also make a great date night for Valentine's Day!
Be sure to check out Museums and art galleries, as many will be showcasing many African American themes in honor of Black History.
Why not have your own program? Every month we hold various projects to educate the next generation about the contributions of Black people in not just America, but world wide. During the month of February, we increase that to every weekend: Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. We have films, workshops, plays, arts & craft, a reading room, lectures, etc. We have to continue to stimulate our minds and celebrate who we are as a people, and not rest on the laurels of the past; but to continue to carry the torch, and make sure it stays lit!
Don't forget to tune in for the NAACP Image Awards on Thursday, at 8:00PM on Fox. It will be hosted by: Tyler Perry and Halle Berry.
Blessings to you!
