If you have ever had a bout with writer's block, I'd like to hear how you handled it. What outide resources did you use? How long did it last?

If you have writer's block while in the middle of a writing project, try starting a completely different story to take yourself out of the blocked project. Sometimes a writer needs a "vacation" from a project in order to go back and finish it with a refreshed mind.

Excellent advice. I like that you advise to take a "vacation" from the project giving you trouble and suggest starting a new project that is "fresh." It is good advice to keep writing regardless of creative obstacles. Any other suggestions?

Has anyone ever had trouble even starting a project due to writer's block?

I find - so far - I don't have blocks during the writing itself
but
during the re-writes when it all gets so tedious I can't bear to look at it at all for a few days. If I try it all just looks like garbage to me.

I'm with heyyou. The writing part comes easy but the editing is tough. Once I have things written down, it's hard to chisel away at it even when I know it needs it.

I second guess myself all the time, trying to fit my work into what I think the publishers want. But the story has a mind of its own!
