I didn't work on this project during the week -
January 8th - Being able to fly is a common dream and is thought to symbolize reaching the unattainable, or striving for a new goal. Think about your life and share an accomplishment you once thought was unattainable, but that you have now been able to reach.
When I was in school, public speaking was the most terrifying thing in my life. Getting up in front of the class or even answering questions put to me by the teacher - holy terror, I would shake and tremble. I have learned to speak in front of a group - giving genealogy talks; then as president of the historical society and leading a meeting.
January 9th - If a human could fly it would certainly be considered a super-natural ability. What superhuman power would you choose, if you could give a power to yourself. Flying? Mind control? Extreme strength? Now take a bit of time to explore your answer in more detail. Why is that the power you'd prefer to have?
To live life in the moment. I often worry about things I have done or things I need to do and as a result I miss what is happening right now. But, I wish I was more like my mother - she was a carpenter, painter, and gardener. I want to redo my kitchen and if I were more like her I could do it myself.
January 10th - Amelia Earhart set out to achieve something that was such an extreme challenge, and required a lot of bravery on her part. What area of your life currently requires you to have courage? Why is this situation a challenge to you? How do you feel about the way you are currently handling this challenge?
Sometimes I wish I could advocate for others. It takes a lot of courage to be involved in the lives of others and be able to provide help without overstepping our bounds. I can only do small things right now.
January 11th - When an eagle flies there is a steady updraft on it's wings from the air current. As we make our way through life there are often those people around us who help encourage and uplift us. Name three people who have cheered you on, encouraged you or motivated you during your life. Explore what about their encouragement was such a blessing to you at that time.
When I was in college I had to give a talk on this very subject. I have a girlfriend (known her since 1st grade) who was fearless. I was shy and cautious. My mother would let me go places with her and her mother would let her go if I was with her. I talked about my friend being the wind beneath my wings but after I gave the talk I realized that my mother was the wind beneath my wings.
