Today's feature article is a brief history of the cozy mystery genre. In recent years, cozies have become increasingly popular with women, especially because of the numerous themes that have developed.

I know we have discussed this topic before, but you are welcome to share your favorite cozy theme and/or author.

It's always fun to try authors that are new to us.

Here is a link to the Cozy Mysteries article.

I was surprised recently when looking at the mysteries to see scrapbooking mysteries, tea shop mysteries, needlepoint mysteries, as well as cozy mysteries about vets, beauty shop operators and more. Seems like whatever your interest, you can find a cozy mystery about it.

HealthyMom62,

Part of the fun of reading cozy mysteries are the DIY info, recipes, or patterns included in the books. I hope you get a chance to read some of the books that are out there.

Thanks, Kimmie! Appreciate your stopping by.

I think the newsletters are great for reminding people to check out an article. I have signed up for several other newsletters on this site, and it seems to come as a surprise when they arrive in my email. Time sure has a way of moving faster than I expect.

Take care!

I didn't realize that Agatha Christie was considered a cozy mysery! I might have to get some of hers to read again. It's been a long time since I was in middle school - which is when I read them the first time! smile

Actually, according to those who write about the history of mysteries, she is credited with beginning the genre in the early 1920's. I was surprised when I first read that information.

When I think of cozies, I also think of Jessica Fletcher and Cabot Cove, although I am more familiar with the TV series than any of the books.
