Welcome to the wonderful world of digital photography!
I delete bad photos as soon as possible after I have taken them. The great thing about digital cameras is that you can take lots of pictures, then view them immediately and delete the obviously bad ones. Then when you put them on the computer you can see them better and delete the less-good ones. Once they are all downloaded onto the computer I delete everything left on the camera's memory chip so it is clear and ready for the next batch. I try to be very selective about the ones I finally save so that I don't have that drowning problem.
