My sister says that winter is the time you are wrapped in one quilt while you are making another. So I thought I would share a poem I recently received via e-mail. It was about a different state (South Dakota) when I got it, but since South Dakota is the state of my birth and youth and only 20 miles from where I live I took the liberty of changing the state. We have had snow every other day for almost 2 weeks. We are forecast to have some additional snow every day for the next four. So, here's the reason for quilts:
It's winter in Minnesota and the gentle breezes blow
Seventy miles an hour at twenty-five below.
Oh, how I love Minnesota when the snow's up to your butt,
You take a breath of winter and your nose gets frozen shut.
Yes, the weather here is wonderful so I guess I'll hang around,
I could never leave Minnesota 'cause I'm frozen to the ground.
