I recently read that our own back yards are often the best source for Christmas greenery. I live on a farm and had not really looked at my yard that way! Well, after reading that little tidbit, I strapped two blocks of floral foam to our outside lamp post near the top of the post, covered them with chicken wire, and stuck a bunch of magnolia leaves in it. Then, I stuck a bow in the midst of it and put red berries in it! Wow, does it look pretty!

So, my next thought was to put magnolia leaves and berries in our bird bath. Again, so pretty.

These arrangements are free and can be freshened with new stuff at no cost!

Cela, one of the most beautiful wreaths I've ever seen was one made up of only magnolia leaves. they had some facing forward and some backward. Just breathtaking.

Also, try this: take some fake garland and lay inside of a long trough like flower box that could be attached as a window box. Then layer other types of greenery decor used for Christmas. Then add lights and large colorful ball ornaments, with a few, placements of small presents (empty boxes wrapped in wrapping paper with a bow) and add berries, pinecones too. Whala. What a transformation for a seasonal window box for Christmas. HAPPY HOLIDAYS everyone.

I like to use fresh greenery for a table centerpiece and add some fresh fruits such as oranges, lemons and pomegranites throughout. Place a few candles in between and it becomes a beautiful centerpiece very inexpensively.

Kimmie--That trough idea sounds so pretty. In a way, it reminds me of what's on my dining room table right now. It's a long, carved-out, wooden container, painted red. There, the similarity to yours ends, though. I placed it on a holiday runner and filled it with ornaments. I put a fairly substantial Santa ornament in the midst of several smaller ornaments. It's very festive and low-cost since I made my own runner and already had the ornaments on hand.

It's nice to have this kind of thing as a table center piece because you can see over it to the person across the table from you!

Hey, that sounds like a beauty. I'll try that next year perhaps. All I have this year, is a small Christmas tree on the table, made of green sequence and emerald colored beads that is surrounded by holiday cards.
