Interesting post. I find that colors affect me. The one that is most noticible to me is something like a sage or seafoam green. It's okay in small amounts, but we have moved a lot and for some reason, we get these master bedrooms with this color of light green on the walls and in every case I was depressed and my mood was negative. After repainting, my experience in the room changed.

We just moved into another house and my office has more like a pea green. I like it to look at it, but I have a difficult time spending too many hours in the room because it bugs me and I don't know why. Eventually, I plan to get it changed and we'll see how that goes.

Dark foresty type greens don't do this to me. Weird, huh?

I heard that the best color for a bedroom is a clover pink/purple or a mauve. Makes me think of the inside of Jeannie's bottle...

I like color and I find that some are much more peaceful than others. I think color often affect different individuals differently.

Your post about the color black is interesting - lots of contradiction.

When we were last househunting, one home had a kitchen with black walls. Ouch!

Yikes! Not my idea of a great place to cook and wash dishes.

That's so interesting about the color green being the most popular these days! I would bet it has to do with our conscious move towards a greener way of living worldwide. I think that's a great promising sign for the world changing for the better.

Happy New Year!

Andom - You did not write this content. You stole it.

I found the content elsewhere on Google quite easily.

This is highly illegal.

In spite of the stolen content problem, this topic is quite interesting. I have read somewhere that green (but I think they were talking about light green, not pea-like, as mentioned above) is beneficial for offices or classrooms. Someone here also said clover-pink or sort of mauve is good for bedrooms, and I can confirm from my experience that a light mauve or sort of light clover-pink is very comforting for a bedroom. I was never very fond of bright colors on home walls. I had my kitchen painted orange once and it was not bad, though. I don't think I could cook in a black or red kitchen. Back where I lived many people painted their walls white, but I had two problems with that: 1. it looked too much like hospital, 2. spots were very easy to see. Hope I did not get you bored with all these.

Not boring at all Holiday! In fact thanks for sharing! I have some friends that are wonderful amateur interior designers and what I like most about what they do is how they will paint one wall in their respective apartments a really bright yet deep color. Something like a deep orange, reddish brown, or light burgundy. Colors like this in the living room for instance always give me a sense of warmth but are active as well. So you feel cozy yet not necessarily sleepy and lethargic in the room.

What are your favorite decorating colors?

Colors do play a vital role in influencing our moods and emotions.
Oftentimes, sportsmen and women have their changing rooms painted red to excite and invigorate them to be pepped up to play with high energy. Waiting rooms of dentists or meditation rooms are often painted pale blue or white to calm you. Preferred colors for bedrooms are light pinks, light shades of yellow or brown like beige, buff, cream as these are neutral or calming. This is my knowledge on color therapy. If anyone has any more ideas or web references to add, I'd surely appreciate reading about them.

I liked Leah's idea of painting one wall a bright deep color and keeping the rest subtle in light paint. Thanks Leah!
