Mount Washington Valley, NH -- It�s a special time of year in Mt Washington Valley as the fall foliage colors turns to the harvest glow and then the joy of the holidays. Mt Washington Valley is alive with special events for each of the upcoming holiday celebrations � Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas. OCTOBER

October 17, 18, 24, 25, 30, 31, November 1: The Goullhog Halloween Haunted Chairlift Ride - The tour starts in the Eating House building at the base of Cranmore Mountain and includes a night-time stroll through a haunted walkway to the Quad. After the 7-minute ride to the summit of Cranmore, visitors tour the Ghoullog, where haunted happenings are sure to frighten and surprise the hardiest souls. October 1 � Dec 31: Harvest to Holiday Promotion in Mt. Washington Valley � Join businesses throughout Mt. Washington Valley for a full line up of family and shopping events as they count down to the holidays. October 17 - 19 and 24 � 26: Pumpkin Patch Run at Conway Scenic Railroad - Travel by train to the "Pumpkin Patch" where each child will receive a small pumpkin and a special Halloween treat. Costumes are encouraged. Reservations can be made on-line or by telephone. Departures to Bartlett- 11:30 a.m.; Glen at 1:30 p.m. � with an extra train to Glen at 3:00 p.m. on Saturdays only. October 30: MWVCC Annual Meeting and White Mountain Treasures Celebration- Recipients of the White Mountain Treasures award will be honored at the Mt Washington Valley Annual Meeting and Dinner to be held at the Attitash Grand Summit Hotel and Conference Center on Thursday, October 30, 2009. The Annual meeting starts at 4:30pm, followed by a cocktail reception and dinner. Reservations required. $40.00 per person. November 1: 2nd Annual Fur Ball at Grand Summit Resort - The 2008 Fur Ball to benefit the Conway Area Humane Society and Harvest Hills Animal Shelter promises to be a tail wagger once again this year with lots of dancing time to the live music of the award-winning Fryeburg Jazz Ensemble. To add to the laughs, enjoy the wild antics of Maine comedian Mike Miclon too. Tickets are $100 per person, or buy a table of 8 for $600. November 6 & 7: �The Capitol Steps� at the Stone Mountain Arts Center � The musical cast of this politically satirical group will be back for an election week appearance and have showgoers rolling in the aisles! November 8: Nordic Ski Swap and Sale at JSTF - Kick off the Nordic ski season at the Annual Nordic Ski Swap and Sale from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 pm at Jackson Ski Touring Foundation. November 15: Historic Thanksgiving at the Remick Country Doctor Museum - Where did our modern Thanksgiving traditions come from? Learn about harvest festivals and how the foods of the Thanksgiving feast evolved over the centuries. The event features demonstrations of how an early 19th century meal was prepared, from the farm to the table - including plucking and "dressing" the turkey. Traditional food and drink is prepared on the hearth, using historic recipes with lots of delicious samples to try. Take home a new recipe to include in your own Thanksgiving tradition. Visit a mini exhibit about the history of this important American holiday. Hours are from 1:00 � 4:00 p.m. for an afternoon of good food, a warm fire, and a little bit of history. Free admission. November 28-30: Christmas Time at Santa�s Village - Come visit Santa, his elves and reindeer. Take in a wonderful display of holiday lights, have a blast on the best rides and see a special holiday show in the Polar Players Theater. Hours are 11:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. Saturday and 11:00 a.m. � 6:00 p.m. on Sunday. The admission for this season is $23 per person; children ages 3 and younger are always free. November 27: Thanksgiving Feast Buffet and Holiday Concert at the Mount Washington Resort: Create holiday memories and families traditions with a feast fit for man, lady and child. November 28 - 30: Traditionally Yours, Jackson - The classic White Mountain villages of Jackson, Bartlett, Glen and Intervale invite folks to join them as they open their doors once again to share old and new holiday traditions.
