Call me crazy or just having a fondness of my childhood past but I simply can not make a holiday season without looking at all the family specials of old yesteryear holiday shows. What about you?

Does anyone out there still look at holiday favorites of kidz shows?

The holiday season wouldn't be the same without any of the Peanuts/Charlie Brown holiday specials and Rudolph, Frosty and Mr. Grinch.

I love "Santa Claus Is Coming To Town" with Kris Kringle and Jessica and the song 'Silver and Gold'. My husband's favorite is "Little Drummer Boy". And I love the original Grinch too!

I love them all, but my favorite is Mr. Magoo's Christmas Carol. I love it so much my daughter found it on DVD and bought it for me for Christmas 2 years ago. Now I get to torture the whole family with it every year. It has beautiful music, which I still know by heart since I was a kid!

And yes, Kimmie, it just wouldn't be Christmas without all the old kid shows I enjoyed so much.

I love the Garfield Christmas Special. I'm not sure if they even show it on tv anymore but I have an old tape of it. The grandma is the best part.

I have to agree with the Peanuts specials, and some of the Rankin/Bass Christmas specials are classics. For me, I would also have to add Emmet Otter's Jug Band Christmas to a list of favorites.

I've never heard of that one. Is it shown on tv?

Emmet Otter's Jug Band Christmas is a production by Jim Henson (responsible for Sesame Street, The Muppet Show, and Fraggle Rock). This show was made in 1977, and based off a children's storybook that was published in 1971. It also features several songs written by Paul Williams.

Emmet Otter's Jug Band Christmas aired on HBO for a number of years. It also aired on ABC in 1980, and on Nickelodeon during the 1990's.

Here's an entry for it at the Internet Movie Database:

VAnce as I read your post, I just started instantly singing the songs. Now I have to make the hard decision to either go to the store and purchase these oldies but goodies or to wait for the family channel or CBS to air them. Hmmmm (such a hard decision). Thanks a lot Vance. smile Have a wonderful Thanksgiving everyone.
