It's actually really popular with people dealing with squalor issues, but I haven't read it yet.

Believe it or not, more people live in what is technically considered "squalor" than you may realize. It's a lifestyle of disorder that can get out of hand. This book apparently deals with the psychology of people who live in disorder.

Well, I've read it, and it's definitely NOT just for people living in squalor. That idea would come as a great surprise to the two NON-squalid-readers who recommended the book to me. It's especially useful for people who live with other people--most of us. Even a neat freak can learn from this book and receive validation from it. It's a great book for just about anyone on the cleaning spectrum.

Not only is it full of great ideas for cleaning, it's very encouraging. I love it's positive tone.

I didn't mean that it was JUST for people living in squalor! I said that it was popular among that group...

Is squalor and hoarding the same thing?

No squalor and hoarding is not the same thing. Hoarding is not getting rid of stuff. Squalor is more or less fithiness due to neglect.

Hoarding can make you your place seem squalor but then it just becomes cluttered.

There's an article in the works about squalor. It will be posted before Christmas. But Vance is right: they're two different things; although hoarding CAN lead to actual squalor.
