This might make a cool Christmas gift. It certainly is a little different.

I have ordered cards and other items from Colorful Images before. They have always been a reputable company to deal with. I cannot imagine a change in anything.

I remember as a kid we had stick pens with plastic flowers on top and the ink had a floral scent to it.

As a former art teacher I always avoided scented markers, which I think are still available, because smelling art supplies was not something I ever wanted to encourage kids to do. crazy
I'm still not convinced it's a good idea, but might be fun for adults.

I always thought it was fun to smell the markers, but I do see your point, Helen!

Children should be advised that sniffing things is not always the best. There is a difference between fun things to smell and dangerous things to smell. (And I think you just gave me an idea for an article.)

Now - at Hershey Park, they sell pens where the ink smells like chocolate. Brought those back to my workplace and they were a big hit....well, so was the chocolate.

What bothered me the most about the "smelly markers" is that they were permanent ink. That's like sniffing a sharpie marker! I wouldn't have minded so much if they had been water based, non toxic markers. But I still didn't want to encourage kids to be smelling art supplies.

I can certainly see the fun of chocolate scented pens for adults, though. YUMM!

Wow - I didn't know there was a difference in markers like that.

Permanent markers are usually the ones that smell bad, like Sharpies. Water based markers are like Crayola, they're usually not strongly scented and are non-toxic, as well as being washable. A much better choice for children to use, for so many reasons!

This isn't a hard and fast rule, but a general idea of the different types.

scented pens would be fun for Valentine's Day or writing love notes.

I had two from Avon (back when we could buy online and they had many things) an Halloween before 2009. Both (1 was a witch and 1 was a bat) smelt strawberry and I loved it. I have been looking for one ever since then but cannot find any (they do have coloring pens in some places but not pens).

The ones from Avon gave me a huge headache. I have to be careful with scents.
