Where does your blog live? Do you use Blogger, WordPress, TypePad, or some other blog platform?

I have most of my blogs on WordPress, which I find very is versatile and creates professional-looking blogs. It's harder to set up than Blogger, but the control you get over your website is much greater.

I also have one blog on Blogger, which is super easy to set up (like in, literally, five minutes).

Your turn! smile

I use WordPress (not at WordPress.com, but hosted at my own domain). I love how customizable it is.

I use live journal. I have one for my personal life and one for my writing.

I use blogspot.com and Google Ad sense for my dolls, sewing and costuming articles. It was very easy to set up and I think it looks nice.

I have a self hosted word press blog which I love. I used the Niche Blogger to get it set up and I really like it.

I have a blog on blogger but it has a lot of limitations.

It depends what you want to use your blog for as to which one suits your needs. WP doesn't allow you to monetize. On blogger I put one little google ad and make about $1/month on it. Not much but when added to my other google revenue for my health site, it adds up.

There are two types of Word Press blogs; one of which yuo can do whatever you like with and monitize as you see fit (via wordpress.org) and the other is restricted (wordpress.com). I know that sounds confusing. Problogger and other A-Listers always recommend wordpress.org and self-hosting for blog monitization. smile

Blogger can definitely make some attractive blogs, as Susan said. But it's also true that you are limited on that platform in some ways.

For most people it depends on the goal in sight for your blog.

By far... I would go with a Wordpress blog.

Wordpress blogs look nicer and there are much more plugins you can use to make your blog better.

If you can host your own Wordpress blog on your own domain, that would be the best.

I totally agree about the Wordpress plugins and theme flexibility. And owning your own domain is big if you want to go serious places with your blog.

For people with a small personal blog, just for fun, Blogger really is sufficient and totally free. It's all about what your goals are, really, for your blog. smile

I have both also and like my wordpress a lot better. I host it on my domain as well.

One of my former teachers had a slew of them on blogger and she said that they [blogger] shut them down overnight one day without notice. So she went to wordpress and hasn't had that problem and has been there for a few years now.

One of the challenges I have is upgrading my wordpress blogs on my sites when they come out with newer versions.

Anyone else run into that challenge? confused
