Hi I am relatively new to knitting and I am trying to make a sweater that is partly knitted and partly crocheted. I have no problem with the crocheting part as I am an avid crocheter, but I have a quest with the knitting part. I am working this on a circular needle and have put the marker where it indicated for me to put it, now I have a decrease round and instructions say [K1, k2tog, knit across to 3 sts before next marker, ssk, k1] twice. Does this mean complete instructions to first marker and after the marker or to marker and then again at the end of the row?

I know you said you are working with circular needles, but are you knitting in the round our using the circular like straight needles and going back and forth? That would make a difference.

Okay, so picture that it has a front and back. And you are going to decrease at the beginning, with the K1, k2tog then continue on to three stitches before your marker (which would be at the end of the row) and decrease again ssk, k1. Where are the instructions having you put your marker?

They say to put it after the 85th stitch which is the halfway point of front and back, so do I do it before and after the marker?

I would guess you decrease at stitch one (which would be the side), before and after the marker, and again at the end.

What are you knitting? That may make this clearer?

I'm knitting a sweater with a knitted body and crocheted arms and neckline and around the bottom. Thanks for the information.

Then if it is a sweater that seems to make sense sort of, generally when you get to the decreasing for the armholes, though you separate and knit back and forth, but if this is just shaping and not at the armholes I think that the above makes sense. So starting at the beginning, first stitch would be K1, then continue k2tog, knit across to 3 sts before next marker, ssk, k1, marker and do it all over again!

Wow, I hope this all helps.

This can't be the armholes, as you're not separating the piece.

At 3 sts befor the first marker do the (K1, k2tog) once. At 3 sts before the next marker you do the (ssk, k1) twice.
I expect that you have at least 4 markers?

Just wanted to say thank you so much to all who tried to help me with this pattern. I did get it figured out and all is going right thanks to the knitting editor Marge Colletta. But thank you too to Tina from Sweden!
