I believe the average pay is between 10 and 12 dollars an hour. The best thing to do is get a couple of quotes from professional painters and go from there. You can save money by moving furniture out of the way or covering it yourself plus tape around wall outlets, light switches and cover any trim that you don't want painted, yourself.

That is all part of the labor costs. Also, you want to buy the paint yourself as well and that will all save you moey in the long run.

I would check with friends and family first to see if they want some extra money and tell them that you can pay so much an hour. That will be cheaper as well.

The pay per hour in this area is around fifteen dollars an hour. So, if the area needs a lot of preparation or cleaning you may be amazed at how quikly the price adds up!

I try to do my own cleaning as that's one thing, in my opinion, that will make or break a paint job.
Painters tend to hit the walls and baseboards with a lick and a promise rather than really scrub them clean before painting anyway. So, it saves money to clean before the painters arrive.

Depending on where you live, and how professionally you want the job to look like, here are a few suggestions.

Professional painters generally charge by the room. $100 to $150 per room, and the package deal is $300 to $500 per house, but that's variable to room size.

You may be able to get a quality job done by foregoing an actual painter, and contracting a local maintenance person. They do a pretty good job in their own right, but will charge between $12 and $25 dollars an hour.

You can take a chance with quality, and put an ad in the local paper or on Craigs list, and flatly state that you'll pay 10 bucks and hour for painting. I am fairly sure that you will get many responses, and it could be a very good deal for you.

OR, get some friends together, make some chili or BBQ, and have a painting party! That may be the best way to go!
