With all the hype for the new blockbuster The other Boleyn Girl, what was Anne really like? Read the Article and have your comments in the forum!

I suspect your right that Anne was manipulative. I read that Mary AND their Mother had also been a mistress to Henry. Mary in fact had a child that was always suspected to be his illegitmate son.

I imagine that early in Henry's career of marrying women, Anne had no reason to believe that he would put her to death in order to have a male child.

Its a fascinating time in history.

I read the book (by Phillippa Gregory) and really enjoyed it. It goes into much more detail than the movie did. Well worth a read.

Yes, i do belive she had at least one, if not two of henrys children illigitiamatly. But the thing was, because Bessie Blount had born him a boy, when he had an affair with her, while married to Catherine of Aragon, Henry then belived that the problem of baring sons was not his but the females!

And after all he went through to get Anne, then she delivered of a dead boy, he must have been furious. I think you are right Lisa O, I think she did not think he would behead her, but you also have to remember that she was the first female queen in English history to meet with this fate, so she never realised it COULD happen to her. She completly underestimated how Evil Henry could choose to be, as did most who upset him. He was truly a tyrant. Even being desperate for a son does not excuse what he did to some of his people.

Cookiecody, I read the book and yes it is much better, have you also read The Queens Fool? about a Jewish girl who is a fool to Mary tudor? Who I will be posting an Article on in the future.

I think The Tower Of London is a worse chamber of horrors than the London Dungeon, when you think of all the misery, talk of beheadings etc that went on there - because it's real.

Definitely visiting it next time we're looking for places to go in London. History sightseeing in England wouldn't be complete without all the ancient palaces, Tudor landmarks etc.

More of our plans on our blog:
