I have a teddy bear kalanchoe that has started to form aerial roots. They are similar to a ficus that I have done as a bonsai. Has anyone else seen this happen?

Don't have a teddy bear kalanchoe, but I have seen them on jade plants, christmas and orchid cactus, tomatoes, marigolds, and various vining plants.

Is your kalanchoe leaning, by any chance? The one jade on which I saw aerial roots was leaning...I figured that the plant was preparing for a possible fall by sending out roots ahead of time.

I have a kalanchoe as well, that aerial rooted and I took a cutting and planted it. I now have a VERY strong kalanchoe plant and I am watching the original one for more aerial roots. I am also watching to see how well the cutting blooms.

I adopted one from a friend and the entire root system seemed completely dead. I cut it off just below the lowest leaves and stuck it in a glass of water on my patio windowsill. It now has a brand new root system, and I'm thinking it's about ready to repot. Think it would be ok in the same pot as a jade plant? They are cousins, after all.
