I am looking for good written instructions for picking up a dropped stitch at the end of the row in knitting, (both knit and purl). Does anyone have a good way to explain it or can you recommend a book or publication that has instructions for this knit fix?

Here is a good illustration http://home.howstuffworks.com/knitting-instructions9.htm , if it is a purl that was drop pull the yarn from the front to the back instead.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for your reply. I looked at the site and found instructions for picking up stitches in the middle of a row but the last stitch on the row is where I am stuck. As you know, the last stitch, when dropped, makes up the last stitch of one row and the first of the next row and can't be picked up the same way as the middle of the row. If you know of more help, I would greatly appreciate it.......Debbie

Let me sit down with my knitting and drop a stitch at the end, but it might be possible to just increase one. I'll get back to you tomorrow~

Actually the outside loop is re-worked the same way, the edge looks really loose and when you pull them through as you would an inner stitch dropped the edge tightens up and looks nice and finished.

I hope this helps, I'll try to get some pictures up soon.
