I cook for my father-in-law every week and he just had 6 teeth pulled. I learned that he can only have soft foods, but I'm used to fixing him nutritious, full menu recipes with beef, chicken, pork, pasta, you name it. I'm feeling stuck. Does anyone have any soft food type recipes that are also tasty. I'm not talking about a bowl of mashed potatoes. I don't want to disappoint him on taste. Thanks in advance for your help. smile

Almost anything I cook in my crockpot is usually very soft... especially chicken... what about a nice crockpot soup of chicken, carrots, turnips or parsnips, green beans~ maybe some cooked egg noodles (or rice) and peas thrown in at the end? Hope he heals quickly and I think it's very cool that you take the time to cook for your FIL smile

My advice to you is not to inquire why or whither, but just enjoy your ice cream while it's on your plate~ that's my philosophy. (T.H. Wilder)

Thank you Christygirl1970 for your suggestion about the crock pot. Mine is tucked in the back of my cupboard and I hadn't even thought about it. That gives me some food for thought. No pun intended. I usually cook on the stove top, but making a big stew would be an excellent choice and I could soften up all kinds of vegetables and chicken pieces in there for him. I don't know why I didn't think of it. I was sort of stuck on the idea of spaghetti, thinking he could chop that up, and my brain couldn't get past that. Thanks again for your input! smile

As a result of advanced Alzheimer's, my 89-year-old mother has difficulty swallowing. All of her food must be pureed in a blender. We put regular cooked table food in the blender for her. Although the mix looks like baby food, it's tasty and nutritious. My mother's been eating this type of food for nearly three years.

Best,
