I had to run to WalMart with Bob tonight to get him a car battery and as I tend to multi-task I was doing yoga poses in the aisle as he looked at batteries. I figured nobody would get too upset if I did tree pose and mountain pose and eagle pose in the aisle. I didn't go for downward facing dog though smile I also did some crescent moon and then whatever you call it when you interlace your fingers behind your back and press your hands down towards the floor.

What are some other good "standing around" poses which aren't *too* odd for public? smile

Hmmmm, good question. Baby Dancer might be odd in some places but not so much in others. Tree pose with half lotus is a variation on tree that adds in hip opener action. Um, Warrior 1 and 2 might be halfway okay. The top of the sun salutation with arms over head and leaning back.

Some qi gong stuff too, like Sinking the Chi. I find myself sinking the chi a lot to stay calm when i feel incipient stress.

Yes that's true, I was doing the "leaning back" one too.

Do you have a link to an image of baby dancer?

Sounds like you've hit most of the obvious choices for waiting-in-line yoga. You can always add a few shoulder rolls as you stand in mountain. A gentle lateral side stretch could probably work too.

Here ya go Lisa. The baby form is not as intense. You can just hold your back leg as far as you feel comfy w/o having to really lean forward or get that leg high.

Martha, those sound like good ideas. Maybe we can make a standing in line yoga book. It seems there are yoga books for everything else. wink

Jill--

I like the way you think :-) The proliferation of yoga books on the market is incredible.
