Hi,

Another great source of Omego 3 is found in Chia Seeds. Originally used by the Indians many, many years ago and is rich in magnesium, potassium and calcium. Chia seeds contain more than 60% Omega-3 fatty acid, this is the highest percentage of Omega-3 of any commercially available source. The American diet is miserably lacking in omega-3 which could be why women are now having heart attacks. It has been proven this is essential to our diets which can also prevent acne, arthritis, asthma, eating disorders, breast cancer, inflammatory bowel disease, depression, menstrual pain, headaches, skin disorders, Lyme disease and panic attacks. Furthermore, Chia is not just for people, dogs, cats and even horses will benefit by the elements found in this seed.
Not only does it help with intestinal issues, but its known for its endurance and energy giving properties. This is an ancient food source recently rediscovered. Chia seeds have been a staple for the American Native people for centuries (long before the Chia Pet hit the market). Aztec warriors would eat chia during hunting trips, and the Indians of the Southwest would eat only chia seed mixed with water as they ran from the Colorado River to the Pacific Ocean to trade products.

Furthermore, Chia seeds are a Dieters Dream! The gel-forming property of the seed tends to slow digestion and sustain balanced blood sugar levels, which can be helpful in preventing or controlling diabetes. Whole, water-soaked chia seeds are easily digested and absorbed. This results in rapid transport of chia nutrients to the tissues for use by the cells.

This is an excerpt from an article I put together on the value of Chia Seeds. I have benefited from it greatly when I was having some water retention issues.

Sharron
