We have talked about setting our life priorities here -

Setting Life Priorities

you always want to set up your priorities BEFORE you start setting goals or doing "Secret"-like request activities! You always want to make sure your priorities are laid down so your goals align with them.

So let's start with five year goals first - and we'll do one year goals in a separate thread. You start with the long term goals first so that your short term goals move towards the long term ones!!

What are your long term goals, your precise aims, for your life?

OK I'll start! This is actually a very intriguing exercise for me because I feel really happy "where I am". It took me a *long* time to get to this place and I'm now very content with it. So I really haven't thought about long term goals in a while.

I want BellaOnline to be stable, to continue to grow, to maintain its reputation, to continue allowing editors to learn, grow and reach their goals.

I have three Weddings & Courtship books published. I'd like to get three more out.

I have five romance novels written. I'd be happy to get just one of them really published.

My son just finished his freshman year in college, so one goal is to help him get through the next three years and graduate.

I'd like to get the house organized into a state where it sort of self maintains. Right now we have too much stuff and not enough storage system. If I can get everything organized - and get rid of a lot of stuff - it should be so much easier to maintain going forward.

In the past travel has been a goal - but I'm almost feeling burnt out on travel now. Probably because I turn every trip into a research task and spend hours taking notes and writing things up.

Five years is a long time. I want to get better at yoga. I want to play the piano more.

I'd like to reach 125lb and maintain there.

Five years is a long timeline...i never know where i am going to be living or what I will be doing.Hopefully I am more stable now and can actually make projections that far our now, and have them actually follow through. smile

I missed the chat -- DH's back went out yesterday, and I had to do all the "farm" chores and take care of his aged mom.

I never posted my priorities, but I know now that the big one is living in peace, meaning no more people living with us, and basically doing what I want to do.

My 5-year goals:

1. Build a small, 4-room cabin here on the farm.
2. Rent this big house along with the other one up the road, which will provide enough income for us.
3. Have enough money to go to writers conferences and scrapbooking retreats and give some to people less fortunate.
4. Visit Israel (lifelong goal)
5. Publish two books.
6. See my children and grandchildren succeed in life (also lifelong goal).

Jill - you did awesome in the chat! The key is not to worry about exact things like "have a 17.2" monitor". Think more general about "still living in my current home". They are to give you a general direction to head in, that lines up with your priorities. They are a tool to help you set your one year goals, more than an actual firm destination smile
