I have some itunes money to spend and I was thinking of adding yoga on to my ipod/phone. Has anyone else done this or used it when traveling? any recommendations?

There seem to be a lot of free podcasts in the yoga division.

Do you have a video iPod, or just a regular audio one? Or did you mean you have an iPhone?

I've got no experience at all with the iPhone, I am very behind on cell phone technology! I barely just bought myself a more modern cell phone - I've been using a "bare bones" black and white one for many years now.

Does the iPhone have video on it?

It actually does have video on it. I received it from my entire extended family for my 40th birthday.

I'm giving up on the yoga video though. I probably have as much clue as you do in terms of how and what I can do with this phone (though I still love it). smile

I'm just going to stick to the VCR or perhaps a DVD for yoga... or maybe just some good old fashioned walking.
I think I'll use the iphone to download a movie to keep my children absorbed while flying from AZ to IL with them by myself. Between the iphone and some ipod my husband is receiving for free for buying a new computer, two of them will be able to watch their own movies.

I have an iTouch and that is very cool for watching videos. it's the same as the iPhone but without the phone part, and half the price.

I would think watching a yoga vid on that would be very handy. i will have to try it. That way you could do some yoga in an airport or anywhere. Thanks for the idea!

I have the yoga "game" for the Nintendo DS which I imagine is the same concept - yoga on a tiny screen. The tiny screen is really hard when you're doing yoga. What I think would do better is a guided yoga audio program where you could JUST listen and not have to try to see a tiny screen. Since it would be designed for audio they'd be explicit about what you are doing at each stage, which would be perfect.

Even the laptop screen with a DVD playing was hard to see smile

hmmmm, an audio would work, as long as all the poses were well known. I know Shiva has a bunch of these.

Right it would have to come with a guide book so that you could see the poses and understand them all - but once you were sure you knew what a "downward facing dog" looked like, you could follow along with the audio prompts.

I have a pilates set like that - it came with audio, cards and a book. I'm sure a yoga set exists. You can easily put that onto an ipod.

I definitely see some in an initial google search... but I suppose you have to know the practice that you are interested in and you have to specify "instruction" or "guide book/manual" so you don't end up with a lot of yoga music cd's.
