Well, I guess I should say that I am the new Crime editor here at BellaOnline. I am currently in training mode and didn't really want to say anything about it yet but I guess my new name and my signature kind of gave it away.

I am really hoping to make this a fun and informative forum and I will be covering all phases of crime from the past to the present. I will try to do just as good as a job as the previous editor, Robin Whittemore.

We miss you, Robin. Good luck with your endeavors outside of Bella. smile

Well - I see you made it thru the night! Guess no one is gunning for you, Sheriff. smile

BTW, can you go back in history to unsolved crimes and find updates? I just read a book titled "The Sea Will Tell". It is about the murder of a couple, Mac and Muff Graham, on an island called Palmyra (1000 miles south of Hawaii) back in the 1970's. The woman's body was found seven years after the dissapperance and theft of their boat, but her husband's was never found. The convicted killer, Buck Walker, and his girlfriend were the only other people on the island at the time this started. There is a great mystery as to the whereabouts of the husband's body. They are sure he was also murdered because a second metal box, like the one his wife's body was in, was missing from one of the old buildings on the island.

I am just curious if the body/box washed out to sea and why the girlfriend was found innocent of murder charges when she was caught so many times during questioning lying and changing her stories.

I found this link to the story on Palmyra Island. The island was thought to "be cursed" long before the 1974 murders took place.

www.strangemag.com/palmyra.html

The author of this article names the girlfriend of Walker as Stephanie Stearns, but in the book, And The Sea Will Tell, her name was given as Jennifer Jenkins.

In the Book by Vincent Bugliosi, The Sea Will Tell, he changed her name to Jennifer Jenkins to presumably protect her innocence. She was found innocent, I guess mainly because of her diary and that she had not written in it about participating in the murder. He said that she had her innermost thoughts in there and the details of the murder would have surely been in there.

There was also something about the High Tides coming in between 4 and 5 am. She said they found the boat sometime after 5 am. If she was lying, she would have said they found the boat before 4 am. She had no idea when the high tides came in so when she said that they found the boat after 5 am, she was telling the truth.

Mac's body was never found and Wesley Walker (Buck) was finally paroled from prison in 2007 and he wrote his own book on the murder mystery. He still maintains his innocence. Here is where you can read from his book:

That's not a bad idea, actually. I will have to think on that for awhile and figure out a way to do it.

Wow - great investigative work, Vance! I guess Mac will never be found. Thanks for the update.

A CSI game would be fun. One Halloween, I wrote a mystery story and invited the entire family. I personalized each invitation by giving that person a character name and description and they had to dress up like that character and the evening was spent trying to solve the crime. We had lots of fun!

Of course, here on the forum, we do not have to dress up like our character, but we could still try to solve a crime.

I am still working on the idea and will let you know when I am ready to go with it.

It may take awhile because I've never done anything like this so bear with me. smile
