BellaOnline Forums Hobbies and Crafts Stamp Collecting Hello and Intro

Hello linpenqie and thank you for hosting this site. I have been collecting stamps since the early 1950's when I received a stamp collecting kit for a Christmas present from my father. That was a time when there were no video games and no color TVs around. This was a hobby that I liked very much and continue with it today.
I was thinking of starting a Topical Collection (ships, boats and maritime) I was thinking of using a White Ace album with blank pages, but, any suggestions and advice would be welcome.
I do not like pre-cancels very much (Trucal States and Warsaw Pact nations). I think this was done as a money raiser only and I think the United States Postal system is trying to raise money in almost the same way. Too many collectables meant to seperate you from your money.

Hi Bob, personally my collection is moe a collection of collection is that makes sense. I was gifted my Uncle Chesters stamp collection (stamps from the early 1950's and before) shortly after his passing in the early 90's. Many many many many MANY stamps from countries I had never heard of as a 12 year old (or even now). I also have my fathers collection from when he was a kid and my sisters as well. Along with random bags of stamps that my Grandmother faithfully clipped off all her incoming mail for me and about 5 years worth of those yearly annuals the USPS used to (?) make up each year and conviently came out right around my birthday. This was back when they still readily made lickable stamps versus stickers...which I still miss.

Any ideas on how to keep a stamp collection free from harm other than the obvious and boring rubbermade type container?

Separate the stamps form thier backing papers if not already done and host it inside hagner sheets...
they look amazing and is a nice way to present your collection..

Thank you craw, They are all hinged and have been for decades, I would think to remount them in any way would be more damaging than beneficial.

I was thinking more insects and humidity due to living in the south.
