laugh I often listen to Native American flute music to relax - or when I am writing it inspires me. I love the mellow and soothing sounds. But, I cannot meditate to it because I have a very active mind that loves to imagine. The flute music takes me to very peaceful places (which is good for a break in routine) where I escape from the issues I need to meditate on.

I think it's good to point out to our readers that some people live in "not quiet" areas where there is street noise, honking etc. going on. So while music background might not be great for someone who lives in a silent house, it might be critical for someone living in a "noisy environment". So it might be good to try a variety of options and see what works best for you!

Yes, when I was a student in NYC, living at the 52nd street Y, there was noise 24/7.
