We have had a bunch of what seems to be wild garlic pop up in the front yard. It has small bunches at the top of the stalk and smells just like garlic. Does anyone know if this is edible? If it is, I might transplant some to pots. Thanks for any help.
There are several kinds of wild onions that will appear in the lawn, and you can eat them...I cut the leaves up like chives and use them like a nice fresh garnish.
As long as it smells like garlic or onion you can eat it. There are some poisonous plants that mimic the look of wild onion and garlic, so always smell each thing you pick.
Thanks Julie, I'll try to put some in pots. Everything I place on my front porch seems to thrive with one exception. I tend to kill off sage no matter where I plant it.
Maybe I can get some of this wild stuff to grow so we can use it this summer.
