As usual, the media has jumped the gun and made an announcement prematurely. McKellen is in TALKS to reprise his role. Yes he has been officially approached by Del Torro but his publicist made it very clear that while McKellen would love to reprise Gandolf, nothing is finalized. Just a friendly warning to all you Hobbit fans out there - remember when we all thought Pierce Brosnan was going to play Bond one more time only to be replaced by (the equally cool)Daniel Craig because he took took too long in negotiations? Obviously we don't want that to happen but until I see his publicist making a statement that he is absolutley going to do it, I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

LOL well we could then say that even if it's finalized, it's not true until the movie comes out. Just look at the character of Aragorn in LOTR smile

I am just going to have faith here. I can't see anyone even thinking of having someone else do Gandalf. smile

Yes that is what I feel. If they want him, and he wants them, then we just have to hope he lasts long enough to finish the movie. He isn't young, after all. That's my only real worry.

Or in the Sopranos where the "mother" character died ... or in Monk, the psychiatrist just died ...

Oh I forgot about her, that was a real shame.

So they better get the Hobbit started soon! Although with computer generation technology, they were able to finish up the Gladiator even though one of my favorite actors - Oliver Reed - died during the middle of it.

Oh, also, though she was young, the Lestat movie, Queen of the Damned. That was sad. frown
