Its Not About The Money:Unlock Your Money Type To
Achieve Spiritual And Financial Abundance.
Author: Brent Kessel
Publisher: HarperCollins
ISBN: 978-0-06-123406-4

Review by Sikpicksie

Money is a store of life energy, and when we can channel that life energy into an expression of what is most dear to our soul, an exciting alignment takes place between our spiritual and financial lives. Brent Kessel

Brent Kessel is the C.E.O. of Kubera Portfolios and President and co-founder of Abacus Wealth Partners, named one of the "top 250 wealth management firms in the U.S." by Bloomberg Wealth Manager. He has also studied yoga and meditation, and practices both daily. The impact that these two disciplines have on Kessels financial life is evident throughout the book.

In his book, its not about the money, Brent Kessel advocates coming to our financial life from a spiritual perspective. He encourages us to look within, claiming that once we know our core story our beliefs regarding moneyand understand which of the eight archetypes we operate from, we can begin to make better choices concerning our finances. Choices that not only better our own lives, but also those of others.

The book flows well and is written in three parts. There are exercises throughout, that relate to whatever subject the author is discussing, along with links to meditations and quizzes on Kessels website.

The first part deals with what Kessel refers to as The Wanting Mind, and the uncovering of our unconscious beliefs regarding money and how we came by them.

Part two describes the eight financial archetypescreated by our core story that everyone has to some degree or another in their life, from the Innocent who hasnt a clue and prefers to bury their head in the sand, to the Empire Builder who believes they will be happy only when they have made a significant and lasting contribution to the world.

Part Three is about Investing and Charity. The author promotes becoming a Conscious Investor; investing as though we are all one, and discusses passive indexing, social screening and asset- class diversification.
This part also deals with charity, the reasons for giving, and wills and bequests.

The reader is led step by step from the basics of understanding our core beliefs, how they were formed and how to deal with them, to the creating of a diversified investment portfolio that not only generates wealth for yourself but also benefits others. It is written in clear and concise laymans terms and is easy to read and understand.

This book is not just another Faith or Millionaire in Moments book and is refreshing, in that that the author has taken a holistic and spiritual approach to money and our relationship with it, whilst giving practical advice for creating our own financial wealth.

Even though Kessel comes from a spiritual perspective the financial principles could be applied equally to a non-spiritual person.

For anyone whose relationship with money is based on fear, anyone who wishes to build an investment portfolio that benefits the many, or anyone that wonders how it is possible to meld spiritual and financial teachings, its not about the money makes for enlightening and worthwhile reading.
