Working from home is a big challenge, and it involves risks!

Eleanor Roosevelt said "do one thing every day that scares you."

What risks have you taken lately, and how have they worked out?

Wow, great question, Lisa!

I totally agree! I do lots of scary things. But, every day? What a challenge.

Most of the scary things I do (and I would think this is true for anyone) turn out to be good things.

Like, this year--going into a yoga class where I didn't know anyone and couldn't identify tree pose on a dare, and feeling really out of place. Now, I am still a total newbie, but I feel like I belong in class. And, I love it!

Oh, networking events are like that, too. I was so scared a few years ago just to attend a luncheon with strangers and now, I am president of one group.

I'm going to challenge myself to do more scary things! Can I do one a day? Hmmmmmmm. . .

The scariest thing for me is leaving my house.

Rosie, you don't have to do the scariest thing every day. There are plenty of scary things you can do at home, too. And, all of them do make you stronger.

You did a scary thing when you started walking and eating better at the first of the year, didn't you? And, you had a bad few days and then got back on the treadmill. You've added other exercises, too. You've set goals and worked toward them, and truly, that's the whole root of the scary thing philosophy.

It's not about dangerous, superhero scary things. Or putting yourself in harmful situations.

It's truly little scary things, like writing a poem and showing it to someone else. Telling someone you love them. Eating a raw oyster for the first time.

So, it's just stepping outside your own personal comfort zone. That's how we grow and that's how we achieve.

Right I don't think Eleanor meant "jump in front of a speeding train" scary \:\) We wouldn't last long as a human race if we did that!!

For me I'm often afraid to open email that's over a few days old. My email swamp gets *huge* (although I have just struggled hard and got it down from over 1,000 messages to only 480 messages). Still, that means I have origami requests from people that are several weeks old. If I write them now they are going to be annoyed at me for taking so long. But I still need to do it, if only to apologize with them for not being able to help them.

It makes me sad with myself that I couldn't juggle everything well and keep those origami requesters happy - but I am working on that.

So that is my scary thing for today, to face the origami email.
